Not too long ago a few student athletes approached the University of Tennessee’s athletic chaplain Roger Woods with an idea. Their idea was to fill the stadium with people.

“The athletes came to me and shared that they wanted to leave more than an athletic legacy at the University of Tennessee,” Woods said. “They wanted to leave a spiritual legacy. And with that they said, ‘Our stadium is full for every home game cheering for the Vols and singing Rocky Top.’ And they said they’d love to see the stadium filled and celebrating our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.”

Game Time in Tennessee will be held May 14 in Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., and will include “sports, music and good news.” Woods said the celebration festival will include a sports camp for middle school and high school athletes, cheerleading camp, activities for children, testimonies from athletes and several “big-name” musical artists. The day’s activities will begin at noon.
Woods said area churches have been more than happy to jump in and contribute to making Game Time in Tennessee a success.
“We’re seeing unity among the churches like never before,” Woods said. “We have several hundred churches that are involved right now. And we’re still gathering more.”
“We believe this is the next great awakening among this generation,” Woods added. “This is bringing the body of Christ together like never before. This is not going to be just a one-time event. This is a movement.”
