State of the Hogs: Strong Tower

The CST staff stayed up late Saturday to watch the Hogs' ninth-inning win against LSU. Man, are we glad we did. Check out this piece that ran the next day from HawgsIllustrated.com's Clay Henry:

Arkansas captain James McCann said he beat the odds just to play college baseball. He was a strong tower for the Hogs with a walk-off home run in a 4-3 victory over LSU, then stood strong in his talk to an FCA group afterwards.

University of Central Arkansas Announces Plans for Purple & Gray Turf

(Image courtesy University of Central Arkansas)

According to the University of Central Arkansas' website, the school has decided to make the change from natural grass to artificial turf. Purple and gray artificial turf.

Beginning mid-April, Central Arkansas will replace its natural grass football field with a GeoGreen replicated grass surface from GeoSurfaces – the same company which installed the turf at the school’s baseball stadium last fall.

But unlike the baseball – and most – turf, the surface of First Security Field at Estes Stadium will not contain even a trace of green. Instead the school has opted for a unique design incorporating the Central Arkansas school colors of purple and gray, with black and white accents.

Game Time in Tennessee Coming May 14

Not too long ago a few student athletes approached the University of Tennessee’s athletic chaplain Roger Woods with an idea. Their idea was to fill the stadium with people.

Without the benefit of a sporting event.

Thanks for checking out CST!

No fooling. Tomorrow, April 1 will be the first blog post on CST. Well, technically, this is the first post but ... I'm not going to let the cat out of the bag, but it will be a piece about an event scheduled for the near future. The goal: to fill one of America's largest sporting venues without a sporting event. Check back tomorrow.

In the meantime, check out the CST Facebook page, post your sports photos and start a discussion at the Flickr CST Fans group page and follow us on Twitter. Questions or suggestions? Contact us at ChristianSportsTalk@gmail.com.

Get involved! We're focused on positive performance.
